Rose Harriet Okech is a Communications & Stewardship Associate at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. She holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology and a B.Sc. in Microbiology & Biotechnology. She has more than 8 years research expertise in genetic transformation and genome editing, focusing on N. benthamiana, cassava, and ensete crops. A key aspect of her research involved overexpression of Arabidopsis flowering gene, AtFT, to accelerate flowering in cassava. Additionally, she has specialized training in science communication from Cornell's Alliance for Science and has published science articles in the local dailies. With a strong background in molecular biology and proficiency in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, she is dedicated to advancing agricultural biotechnology by effectively communicating scientific advancements.
